Description
Origin and Habitat: Belen, Catamarca, Argentina
Synonyms: Echinopsis glaucina, Echinopsis aurantiaca
Description:
- Solitary cactus, with a slightly flattened, globular to slightly elongated form.
- Stem reaches up to 15 cm in height and 8 cm in diameter, with 8-14 rounded ribs covered by a blue-grey layer of pruina.
- Presents 5-10 radial spines that darken towards the tip, reaching up to 2.5 cm.
- Yellow or red with yellow flowers, blooming in summer, measuring up to 6 cm in length and diameter.
- This species grows relatively fast and blooms easily, preferring well-draining soils for cacti with high porosity.
- Watering should be done regularly in summer, avoiding excess (to prevent rot), while keeping it dry in winter.
