Description:
- Acanthocalycium spiniflorum is typically a solitary species but can produce basal shoots, growing vertically to a height of about 15 cm. However, in a heated greenhouse or warm outdoor environments, it can reach a height of nearly 60 cm and a diameter of over 15 cm.
- The flowers are erect, measuring 4-5 cm in length and 4 cm in diameter, blooming from summer to autumn and displaying a range of colors from white to violet or pink.
- This species exhibits considerable variation in shape and color and is distinguished from other species in different genera by the spines on the floral tube.
- It requires well-draining soil with high porosity, typical for cacti.
- It can withstand frost (between -8 and -10°C) if kept in dry conditions before and during cold weather.
